Team Growth & Support

At Beresford Contracting, we offer a range of jobs for people based in the local area.

Our team is made up of skilled and experienced individuals who offer many years of knowledge, allowing them to have a solution for any issues that arise on site.

As a company, we know the importance of having a well-trained workforce, so we have a significant emphasis on ongoing training for all employees.

Training Maintenance

In order for our team to feel confident and work to their best ability, we know that it’s important that all employees are trained and confident in their daily tasks.

This is why the training for members is always ongoing, whether this is Health & Safety related or more skilled work that relates to a particular job, such as Telehandler, Dumper & Digger training etc.

Our office team organises and liaises between site supervisors to conveniently allow our team to attend required training; this isn’t always an easy feat when the workforce is spread between multiple locations.

The ongoing training that we offer employees to attend is made up with some of the following:

  • Quarry Passport
  • Toolbox Talks
  • Health & Safety First Aid
  • Manual Handling
  • NPORS
  • Safe Working – Excavations and Confined Spaces
  • Banksman – Traffic Marshal
  • Excavator – Under or Above 10 tonne
  • Quick Hitch Training
  • MEWP

Depending on the skillset already offered by any new employee, we may ask them to attend specific courses if they don’t already hold the appropriate training required for many sites before entering a location.

The Importance of Regular Training

Allowing our team to attend regular training supports our bid to become known as a local company that value their employees.

Not only is regular training needed for sites such as Tunstead, but it also allows us as a company to continue to be awarded accredited companies. Such as CHAS, Avetta & Safe Contractor, who are widely recognised for introducing high industry standards and continue to keep workforces across the country safe.

A qualification that is required for one of the quarries, Tunstead and renewed every three years would be the Quarry Passport, which is made up of 11 modules:

Module 1 – Introduction to Health and Safety Law and Safe Systems of Work

Module 2 – Workplace Safety

Module 3 – Fire Precautions and Procedures

Module 4 – Accident and First Aid Procedures

Module 5 – Hazardous Substances

Module 6 – Manual Handling

Module 7 – Noise at Work

Module 8 – Health and Safety Management Relating to Quarry Operations

Module 9 – Working with Cranes and Heavy Equipment

Module 10 – Safe Working – Excavations and Confined Spaces

Module 11 – Working at Height

These modules are designed to give someone an overall insight into how to deal with issues that arise; they are invaluable lessons and shall continue to save lives in a dangerous workplace.

Toolbox Talks

A toolbox talk is a short presentation provided by any hosting construction company to any visitors, contractors & subcontractors that are about to commence work on a site.

Inductions such as a toolbox talk are designed to update and advise all people working and visiting a job site. These allow a company to keep everyone on-site safe and informed.

Often our toolbox talks can take place monthly on an existing ongoing site to inform members of our team of new works about to take place. As we approach a turn in weather in Winter, it’s good to let our employees know about any cold-weather procedures that have been updated from the previous year.

These talks are also a great time to give our team a chance to raise any issues they’ve come across which haven’t been previously recorded.

We are always looking for new team members to join us; if you wish to get in touch, please get in touch with us via the details below.
